Or, was that how you recorded the audio for the video? This also causes GUI to go off the screen when maps are smaller. And they're not spawned in the correct location. It's not really obvious which of the PS3-styled buttons does what. Also it doesn't appear that pressing them makes them look like they are pressed. Fuck, you know what I mean.
Refill station's heart doesn't flash like it should. It's random, but it's never off for as long as in the original. Interesting little demo you've made there.
The jumping physics and enemy movement could do with some more polish, and the music interrupts for things like life capsules and item acquisitions could be better handled, but I do realize this is an early demo.
I didn't play your demo but I did watch the video. I'll be interested in seeing this project develop. One thing I'm a little bit unsure about is whether or not you should be using the remastered soundtrack in this game since that's content exclusive to Cave Story ports distributed by NICALiS, there may be some legal issues with that. I'm just judging from the video, but there are a few things I noticed. I don't recall this being an error in the original translation.
Did you rewrite the script yourself? Everything seems to lag behind the camera, not just the gun. Do your objects draw themselves before you update and draw the level? That wouldn't explain why Quote's unaffected, though The guy in the cemetery shouldn't be attackable from the front. The game should only be able to play one song at a time: the fanfare jingles should make the level music stop. I suppose it's worth address the elephant in the room: how come you're making your own clone from scratch, rather than working from an existing one like NXEngine?
